Neuro Developmental Therapy

Pediatric physiotherapists help children to achieve their optimal physical/ motor development.  Therapist uses exercises as the primary mode of treatment to optimize or improve the function of person with impairment or disability. Our therapist has specialist knowledge in the movement, development and conditions that are likely to affect the baby and growing child and treat from 1-day-old babies to adolescents. Treatment may involve soft tissue massage, mobilization, stretching, specific therapeutic exercises and posture education. Our therapists encourage children to move to the best of their abilities through play and age appropriate fun and instruction.

A child learning to walk can be taken through exercises to encourage standing and develop the skills required for walking. Any child with a clinically significant Gross motor milestone delay (Gross motor delay means, delay in neck control, coming to sitting or walking with an underline clinical cause, which should be diagnosed by a Pediatrician, Pediatric Neurologist or a Developmental Pediatrician) Can benefit from Physiotherapy.

In all cases, the physiotherapist takes the client through a tailor-made program to address their most important needs.

Physiotherapy is often used in conjunction with other therapies, such as occupational therapy or speech-language pathology. For example, if a child is learning how to print and is slouching at the table, it can be a sign of poor core strength—physiotherapy can help with the core strength while occupational therapy teaches printing.
